What is an FUE hair transplant?
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) moves your own hair follicles from a dense donor area, usually the back and sides of the head, to areas where hair has thinned or receded. Each follicle is removed individually with a fine punch, so there is no linear scar, and then placed at the angle and direction your natural hair grows.
Because the transplanted follicles come from the area that is genetically resistant to balding, they usually keep growing for life. A well-planned transplant looks like your own hair because it is your own hair.
Who is a good candidate?
- Men with male pattern hair loss (receding hairline or crown thinning) whose hair loss has started to stabilise.
- Women with localised thinning, for example at the hairline or parting, after medical causes have been checked.
- People with patchy or thin beards or eyebrows who want fuller, defined growth.
- Scars from injury, burns or previous surgery where hair no longer grows.
You need enough healthy donor hair for a transplant to work. At your consultation, Prof. Rizwan will examine your scalp, look at your family history and pattern of loss, and tell you honestly whether a transplant, medical treatment or both is the better option.
Hair restoration treatments we offer
Scalp FUE hair transplant
For the hairline, temples, mid-scalp and crown. The hairline is designed to suit your age and face shape so it still looks natural in 10 and 20 years.
Beard and moustache transplant
Fills patchy areas, defines the cheek line and creates a fuller moustache using follicles from the scalp.
Eyebrow transplant
Restores eyebrows that are thin from over-plucking, scarring or genetics, with single hairs placed at a low angle to match natural brow growth.
PRP for hair
Platelet-rich plasma from your own blood is injected into the scalp to support thinning hair. It is often used on its own for early hair loss, or after a transplant to support healing and growth.
How the procedure works
- Consultation. Scalp examination, hair loss assessment, a discussion of goals and a graft estimate. Blood tests are arranged before surgery.
- Planning the hairline. On the day, your new hairline is drawn and agreed with you before anything starts.
- Extraction. The donor area is numbed with local anaesthetic and individual follicles are harvested.
- Implantation. Follicles are placed one by one in the thinning area. Most sessions take a full day, and you are awake and comfortable throughout.
- Aftercare and follow-up. You go home the same day with written instructions and medication, and return for review.

Recovery and results timeline
- First 3 days: mild swelling and tenderness. You sleep with your head raised and avoid touching the grafts.
- Days 7 to 10: small crusts fall away. Most people return to office work within a week.
- Weeks 2 to 8: transplanted hairs shed. This is normal and expected; the follicles stay in place.
- Months 3 to 4: new growth begins.
- Months 9 to 12: the final density and texture show. Crown results can take up to 18 months.
Hair transplant cost in Islamabad
The cost of an FUE hair transplant depends on your plan rather than a fixed price. The main factors are:
- The number of grafts needed, which depends on the size of the area and the density you want.
- The area being treated: scalp, beard and eyebrows differ in complexity.
- Whether one session is enough or a second session is recommended later.
- Whether PRP or medical treatment is included to protect your existing hair.
You will receive a written quote after your consultation, with no hidden extras. You can also ask for a rough estimate on WhatsApp by sending photos.
Frequently asked questions
Is a hair transplant painful?
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so you feel the first injections and then mainly pressure. Most patients watch videos or rest during the session. Discomfort afterwards is usually mild and controlled with simple painkillers.
Will the result look natural?
A natural result depends on hairline design, graft angle and density. Prof. Rizwan designs the hairline to suit your age and face, and uses single hairs at the front edge, which is what makes a transplant hard to detect.
How many grafts will I need?
It depends on your degree of hair loss and donor supply. A hairline restoration may need far fewer grafts than full coverage of the front and crown. You will get an estimate at consultation, or a rough idea from photos on WhatsApp.
Is the transplanted hair permanent?
Follicles taken from the donor area are resistant to the hormone that causes pattern baldness, so they usually keep growing long term. Your untreated native hair can still thin with age, which is why medical treatment is sometimes advised alongside a transplant.
When can I go back to work?
Most people return to desk work after 5 to 7 days. Heavy exercise, swimming and wearing tight helmets should wait for around 2 to 4 weeks. You will get a written aftercare plan.
Can women have a hair transplant?
Yes, when thinning is localised and the donor area is healthy. Female hair loss often has medical causes such as thyroid problems, iron deficiency or hormonal changes, so these are checked first. Our dermatologist can help with medical treatment where that is the better option.
